Philosophy is thinking with guidelines advancing inquiry. It is a socially- and organizationally-constructive activity; an intimate and creative practice; a source of intellectual and cultural insight for personal growth in change-making and sustainable decision-making. Modeled on artist-in-residence programs that bring artists into organizations, Philosopher-in-Residence [PiR] places philosophers in 'unusual' non-academic locations, proposing the reintroduction of philosophers into the realms of public engagement & political discussion. Philosophical engagement gives immediate & structured support to individuals, small and large groups cultivating shared and share-able meaning; galvanizing responsible resilience and comprehensive engagement with 'persons, places & things.' -- Fall 2016, NYC.
